Monocoat Directions of Use

The finishing procedure using MONOCOAT OIL FOR CRAFT AND MATT FURNITURE:

1.     Sand the surface to a desired finish.

2.     Take the dust off the surface. Pieces of furniture may be assembled.

Rubio-Monocoat can be applied by roller machine, sponge, squeegee, a brush,  a spatula or by various spraying systems.  Before applying it is very important to HAND STIR the product to a liquid consistency.

3.     Apply the MONOCOAT OIL (on a surface free of dust) rubbing in thoroughly but sparingly, the product must be left a minimum of 20 seconds (but can be left longer) to react and bond with the piece.

Application:

a.      Spray gun or roller:

For optimum coverage, use air pressure of approx. 1-2 bar, aperture: 0,5 – 1,5 mm.  Spray without inline filter.

b.     Manual:

Use an Orel brush, sponge, lint free cloth or a pad in a circular motion. Tends not to leave darker zones when these are covered by product on latter application

(no overlaps and no end grain colour difference if sanded with the same grit).

4.      Removing the excess (this is critical in achieving good results) Take off the excess using a sponge, squeegee, lint free cloth or a white pad, changing when it becomes saturated with product. Repeat this until all excess is removed.

5.     After the product is completely dry it may be possible to buff by hand or machine polish within 3 to 18 hours of application.

6.     MONOCOAT OIL is anti-blocking so pieces of furniture can be buffed and packed for sale after application. Product will not adhere to non cellulosic surfaces so handles, hinges are not affected. It may be possible to cover the oil with a varnish spray after final setting: 24h.

Clean machinery and brushes using Rubio-Monocoat cleaner or white spirit. Do not dilute the product. NOTE Oil-saturated cloths can spontaneously combust and must therefore be burned, placed in water or kept in a lid-sealed metal container.
